SLIMBY

Slimby is Backlight's essential panel for backlighting natural stone and other translucent materials. At only 8.5 to 10.5 mm deep, it delivers the uniform light Backlight is known for where installation depth is tight and budgets call for a leaner solution than a full architectural panel system. Two versions match the panel to the material in front of it. Slimby Clear uses a transparent panel and is intended for highly diffusive faces such as thick onyx or alabaster. Slimby Diffused adds an integrated diffusion layer for a softer, more even field of light behind slightly less diffusive surfaces. In both cases the panel is designed to sit directly behind the material, which must be diffusive enough to conceal the panel's fixing points. Each panel is made to measure, from 203.2 mm to 1219.2 mm wide and 203.2 mm to 3048 mm long, in rectangles or custom shapes produced from CAD drawings. Panels are fixed with screws through optional pre-drilled holes directly onto a flat existing surface, with the stone supplied and installed by others. End, back or side cable feed can be specified, making the panel straightforward to coordinate with millwork, bar fronts, vanities and wall cladding. White light is available from 2700K to 5000K, with tunable white ranges of 1800–3200K and 2400–4100K; RGB, RGBW, RGBTW and dim-to-warm are offered on request. CRI exceeds 95. Standard and high output versions deliver 980 or 1960 lm per metre along the longer side of the panel, so the brightness can be matched to the density of the stone. Slimby runs at 24V DC from a remote Class 2 power supply and can be dimmed by 0–10V, DALI, DMX, ELV/MLV or Lutron systems. It is rated IP40 for dry locations, with an IP54 version for damp locations on request.
