Pill is a compact square luminaire engineered to disappear into drywall. Instead of a visible trim or downlight aperture, each unit presents a small square of soft, uniform light, flush with the plaster or set back into the surface, so ceilings and walls read clean and uninterrupted. It is designed and made in Italy by Backlight. Three sizes are offered: Pill S at 50.8 × 50.8 mm, Pill M at 76.2 × 76.2 mm and Pill L at 101.6 × 101.6 mm. The manufacturer describes the diffused emission as non-glare, which makes Pill well suited to grids and rhythms of light on ceilings and feature walls where visual comfort matters as much as appearance. Installation follows a plaster-in sequence: a metal case is set into the cut plasterboard and screwed in place, the joint is plastered and painted, and the lamp is then connected to its 24V DC supply and inserted magnetically. Two finished effects are available, flush-fitted for a seamless surface or recessed for a subtle interplay of depth around the light. Pill S draws 5.6W and delivers 392 lm, Pill M 8.5W and 595 lm, and Pill L 11.3W and 790 lm, all with CRI above 95. Units run from remote 24V DC Class 2 power supplies and dim via 0–10V, DALI, DMX, ELV/MLV and Lutron systems. Colour temperatures span 2000K to 5000K, with tunable white and RGB, and RGBW and dim-to-warm on request. Standard units are IP40 for dry locations, with IP54 available on request.
