The knife-edge concept, refined. Architects loved the architectural possibilities of the original 8920 Knife Edge but wanted something smaller, sharper and less imposing. The 6900 PEN KNIFE is the answer. Developed by Lumentruss, this compact architectural cove profile preserves the distinctive knife-edge aesthetic while reducing its physical presence. The result is a beautifully restrained detail that allows light to define the architecture without the visual weight of a conventional lighting cove. A precise edge. A concealed source. The 6900 integrates directly with gypsum board, creating a crisp, tapered architectural transition that conceals the LED source from typical viewing positions. The profile is designed to be finished into the surrounding plasterboard, allowing the light detail to read as an intentional extension of the architecture rather than an applied lighting fixture. Its angled LED insert accommodates two LED strips, positioned at 0° and 35°, providing flexibility to direct light upward, outward or across adjacent surfaces. This allows designers to develop subtle ceiling illumination, perimeter effects and more expressive linear wall treatments. Smaller proportions. Greater architectural freedom. The more compact form of the PEN KNIFE makes it particularly compelling where a full-sized knife-edge detail would be visually excessive. Residential interiors, boutique hospitality, luxury retail and minimalist commercial spaces benefit from its finer proportions. The aluminum profile is compatible with standard 5/8-inch gypsum board, while 1/2-inch board can be accommodated with shims. Its field-paintable surface allows the architectural edge to be finished to match surrounding surfaces. A configurable lighting system. The 6900 is compatible with a selection of 24V LED strips, allowing the light output and colour temperature to be tailored to the project. Options include static white, warm dimming, tunable white and colour-changing configurations. Supplied in 2.43 m sections and supported by joining accessories, the system can be integrated into continuous architectural details.
