Originally developed as the 8920 Knife Edge, this distinctive architectural profile has been part of the Dark Tools DNA for years. Its purpose was simple but ambitious: to transform a traditionally complicated construction detail into a precise, repeatable architectural element. Architecture First. Lighting by Design. The ADT–Knife Edge creates a crisp, angled transition that appears to emerge naturally from the surrounding gypsum construction. Its engineered aluminum geometry replaces complicated site-built assemblies with a consistent architectural detail that can be integrated, finished and painted as part of the building. Two independently oriented channels accommodate compatible LED strips, giving designers freedom to determine the lighting appropriate for their project. The architectural profile remains independent of the lighting specification, allowing a wide range of compatible light sources, colour temperatures and control strategies. The result is a permanent architectural element in which the lighting supports the design rather than dictates it.
