HIDE

Hide is a circular luminaire reduced to its essentials: a disc that lights uniformly across its entire face without a visible frame, so the light itself becomes the shape. On a ceiling or wall it reads as a pure circle of light rather than a fitting, adding a calm focal point to an interior. It is custom-manufactured in Italy by Backlight. Four standard diameters are offered, 457.2, 609.6, 762 and 914.4 mm, with custom diameters available for orders of 50 units or more. Output scales with size, from 21W and 1330 lm for the 457.2 mm disc to 41W and 2600 lm for the 914.4 mm disc, with CRI above 95. Hide can be surface mounted on ceilings and walls on a metal bracket, with a magnetic finish band wrapping the panel edge, or installed flush in drywall. For flush installation Backlight supplies the plasterboard section with the fixing system already integrated, for 12.7 mm or 15.9 mm board; the drywall installer sets it into the opening, tapes, plasters and paints it, and the disc is then turned into place. The manufacturer advises that installation be carried out by specialized installers. Hide runs at 24V DC from remote Class 2 power supplies and dims via 0–10V, DALI, DMX, ELV/MLV and Lutron systems. Colour temperatures span 2000K to 5000K, with tunable white, dim-to-warm and RGB, and RGBW on request. Standard units are IP40 for dry locations, with IP54 on request, and the white RAL 9010 cover can be finished in a custom RAL colour.
