FORSKYLIGHT

ForSkylight brings the character of a daylit skylight to rooms with no access to the sky. Made in Italy to the dimensions of each project, the family uses Backlight's Magic Cloud and Ghost technologies to create artificial skylights with a perfectly even luminous surface, soft diffused light and no visible hotspots. Unlike stretch-fabric or membrane ceilings, Magic Cloud is a rigid, factory-assembled panel about 25 mm (1 in) thick. A solid PMMA diffuser leaves no cavity where dust or insects collect, the light remains uniform without depending on on-site tensioning, and individual panels can be removed and reinstalled for inspection or maintenance. Panels can be rectangular, circular, curved, organic or modular, and printed textures are possible. Three Magic Cloud installation methods suit different ceiling details. Screws and Magnetic Plate fixes the panel through precision-machined perimeter holes and conceals the screws behind a removable steel trim held by flush neodymium magnets. Frame by GC mounts the panels as individually removable modules on a metal framework built by the general contractor, creating a clear architectural grid. Slots for Battens uses custom-drilled through-holes that are hidden behind timber or metal slats supplied by others. A fourth version, Transparent Skylight, uses Ghost technology: the panel looks like clear glass when switched off and becomes a uniform illuminated surface when switched on. The panels run on 24V DC from remote drivers and support 0–10V, DALI, DMX, ELV/MLV and Lutron control, with a choice of colour temperatures and CRI above 95.
